What is Bisexuality
Bisexuality is used to refer to describe a person who is attracted to more than one gender. The attraction can be sexual, emotional or romantic. Bisexuality is a spectrum and people who identify as Bisexual experience different degrees of Bisexuality. “Bi” people are represented as the third alphabet in the popular acronym LGBTQ+
Why is Bisexual Awareness Day important
There are myths around the “Bi” people that it is considered a passing “phase”. They are often confused with Gays, Lesbians or even Straight and hence are invisibilised. Sometimes they are accused to be using the “Bi” to avoid committing themselves to a monogamous relationship.
The Bisexual Celebration day was started in 1990. As allies, we need to celebrate, show our solidarity and express that they are as much a part of the world as any other individual.Why is Bi sexual Awareness Day important
Busting Myths about Bisexual
Myth: Bisexual people are often accused of being confused
Fact: Being attracted to more than one or even all genders is totally valid. Hey, it means that they can find lots of people cute!
Myth : Bisexual people are “half gay” or “half straight”.
Fact : They are wholly, totally, entirely themself!
Myth: Bisexual people will eventually “grow out of ” their sexuality, or that they’re just experimenting in their youth before settling down.
Fact: Everyone can change how they identify throughout their lives, but some people don’t at all.
Fact: Bisexual People are likely to cheat on them.
Myth: Cheating has everything to do with ethics and nothing to do with sexual orientation.
Myth: Women are more naturally inclined to identifying as bisexual.
Fact: Rather, there is lack of bisexual men who are open about their sexuality is due to the stigma attached to it.
Myth: Bisexual person is only attracted to two genders, it simply means that a person isn’t only attracted to the opposite gender.
Fact: Bisexuals may be attracted to cis people, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and trans folks as well. People also use the term ‘bi+’ to indicate that they’re attracted to more than just two genders.

Fact: Bisexuality is a spectrum. Some bisexual people have a strong gender preference, whilst others are more fluid with their preference.
